You never want to have your elopement all planned out only to get a voicemail from the vendor, who is also the officiant, cancelling on you only a few weeks before your wedding date! Boooooo! But they didn’t panic? No, at least not that I saw. Then they found a venue that is the best on the list – Water Valley Events Church!
This Alberta wedding venue is one of my favourite venues, and only minutes from Calgary! If you want vintage, quaint, intimate, warm, lots of light … I could go on and on about why Water Valley Events Church is such a gem. Amber and Tony found some of my work on their website, got in touch and it just so happened that this was literally my last summer date open for 2021! I am well into booking wedding photography for 2022. What a happy coincidence!
THE LOVE STORY
It is like a movie plot – Canadian girl goes for a holiday, Mexican man sweeps her off her feet, she tells him no, this can’t be it, it doesn’t make sense… but he continues to love her through her doubts and suddenly a holiday romance has become a lifelong commitment to one another. I am also from a different continent to my husband, so I’m a sucker for an international romance. They found this inner models and just check out how they smashed their elopement photography session.
After the ceremony and a quick drink we nipped off to a little portrait location in Water Valley – William J. Bagnall Wilderness Park, which is a day use area. Is is a pretty little spot, but boy are there A LOT of stairs! Thankfully this Boho Bride was in wedding sandals and her Mexican husband was okay wearing a full suit in the abnormally warm summer we are having!
Needless to say, after working out a few nerves of being in front of the camera, these two brought out the inner models by the end. They have a few more celebrations to go and I’m hoping I get to travel with them for the Mexican wedding too! Wink, wink!
